Choosing Excitement

All journeys carry the “threat” aspect…all the things go wrong…but how about changing the mindset to one of excitement…about all the things that could go “right” if done well…physiologically, excitement and fear actually have a lot in common…both are arousal states…You know the feeling: elevated heart rate, stomach butterflies, sweaty palms, and nervousness. meaning that the heart will beat faster, cortisol surges as the body gets ready for some kind of action that might be needed…I am choosing to reframe the negative state of the fear of another failure into the positive state “EXCITEMENT” of all the new possibilities that are around the corner …

There are studies that show that just saying “I am Excited” aloud improves performance by seventeen%…I think it’s definitely worth a try…the next time you feel anxious…say “I am Excited” (but with emotion)…and let me know if it works for you…I know it definitely changes the emotional state you’re in…and it feels really awesome…

Ever heard of the quote ‘the road is better than the Inn’? It was written over four hundred years ago by Miguel de Cervantes; who famously wrote Don Quixote. What did Cervantes mean by saying that? I think he meant that the journey (or the road), while tough and potentially arduous, is still preferable to being stopped, resting, and no longer moving forward. I think he meant that moving forward is better – even – than after you’ve arrived. It’s the looking-forward that gives us pleasure. We’re happier going out to dinner than we are after having been out. We’re happier on Christmas morning than we are at the end of the day…. We humans are wired to want a challenge and to be ‘on our way’ somewhere

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Chinese Proverb

Yesterday was the first day on Program…I laced up my boots and started the hike…it was challenging at times…it is a new way of thinking and behaving…

It is a fresh start…it requires a workable plan…the weight loss industry…a $254.9 billion in 2021 https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/global-weight-loss-products-and-services-market-report-2021-the-business-of-weight-loss-in-the-20th-and-21st-centuries-301354957.html causes a great deal of misinformation and confusion to the average person…and what is often the “cat’s meow” one day may become detrimental a few years later…and I believe that I have experimented with almost all of them at one time or another…the majority of people that do lose weight on any of these “programs” often gain the weight back…plus more…again, I raise my hand to being one of those…

One of the reasons that I humbled myself and asked for help😄…not easy accepting that I don’t know it all…but really exhausted with failing so miserably continuously…

Trying a different approach. I thought I might take a page out of Henry Ford’s life…surrounding myself with people who are experts in their field…a support team…which I never contemplated before…I just knew I was smart enough to figure it out on my own…

So that is how this time it is different…I am not doing this alone…a wonderful support staff…my Mr. P, a friend MP who is on the same journey, my trainer JP, and my nutritionist CR…now this team did not appear all at once…it took time…the saying (that is attributed to several teachers). “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”…a lot of angst in getting to this point…

Life is a journey of either Fate or Destiny. Fate is the result of giving in to one’s wounds and heartaches. Your Destiny unfolds when you rise above the challenges of your life and use them as Divine opportunities to move forward to unlock your higher potential. Caroline Myss

I have lived long enough not be naive that there will not be obstacles and challenges…but there will be support and guides…those to lift me up when I fall and give me information on how to go through, under and around the walls that arise…there are always answers…sometimes it is just in the finding of them…

The program is basic…learning how to eat healthfully…all over again…using the daily portions per food group…it’s very individualistic…mine just happen to be Carbohydrates ((starches) 4)…Protein (7)…Fat (4)…Fruit (1)…Vegetables (at least 3-5) …with free vegetables and room for treats once or twice a week…the 4500 KJ is not a lot…this is low GI and definitely assists in keeping my blood sugar…which helps my hunger levels…

Even the nutritionist said to try follow the 80/20 rule…life doesn’t always assist in the ‘perfect” eating plan…we will have a guest for 3 weeks with family gatherings…but life will always through curve balls…now I will work on catching them and throwing them back…⚾…crossing my fingers for a few “home run” celebrations…

“It was so risky and so scary, and yet at the same time, so beautiful. Maybe the truth was, it shouldn’t be easy to be amazing. Then everything would be. It’s the things you fight for and struggle with before earning that have the greatest worth. When something’s difficult to come by, you’ll do that much more to make sure it’s even harder -if not impossible- to lose.”

Scared…no “I’m Excited” about the journey…

Much love, laughter and happiness for your day…blowing a few magic sparkles your way..xxx

  2. For me, I see myself, as a total process, falling into each next second, the future. There are no guarantees, and I never know exactly what will happen next. I can do this in fear, or I can accept the unknown with a calm enthusiasm, either of which have an impact on how I am in this moment. Great post my friend.
